I received, through my letter box, yesterday, an invitation to celebrate Easter.
A little, yellow, fairly innocuous looking pamphlet, calling me to action to help spread the word of Jesus.
It was in a plain envelope. No name on it. No address. Blank.
So now I am just a number? In the eyes of the Army of Jesus? And this was an invite from their "warm community"!
Surely they could have knocked the door to bother to meet me...Or, even went to the effort of putting my address on it...
I won't be indulging in thousands of Easter eggs this year (I have my hips to consider), but I won't RSVP this invite either (I have my self respect to consider). I am a person. Not a number. And I am sure Jesus would not mind me being absent from this "celebration" where I would only be looked at and discussed anyway. It is a small village I live in, and my life choices are not perhaps the most appealing to certain "Christians".
I do not want to generalise, because there are always lovely people in any group / community. It's all about the bell curve baby.
Whatever your beliefs, happy holidays and good wishes to you and yours.
