What have I done?!
I came to Adelaide, for a new and wonderful life, full of opportunities and culture. Well, culture, by it's very nature, is subjective, having many levels and facets...
The question is then, what is the true and definitive culture in Adelaide? Culture is too broad for the scope of this blog, though I do hope I am conveying subtle comment.
Adelaide is known as the "City of Churches", having not only several of them, but also many many places of worship of almost every faith. However, there is an apparent darker side to Adelaide, which, I have recently discovered, is also referred to as "City of Corpses", by those in the know...
Adelaide, one of the smallest cities in Australia, has a population of just over 1 million. Yet it has one of the highest incidences of violent crime and murder.
"The Mass Murders of Truro", "The Bodies In The Barrels" and "The Family Murders", are only some examples of the evil that has been seen here in Adelaide. It is believed these are only the tip of a very nasty iceberg.
Of course, most places have a dark history. But I would never have thought such atrocities had ever occurred here (let alone as recently as 1999 - "The Bodies In The Barrels").
I believe Adelaide is a wonderful place with wonderful people. I will simply be keeping a wary eye out from now on.
