Beasties, Harnesses, Houston And 'Queer As Folk'

Beasties are all around.

I am quite sure people, some people, think it is all in my head.

I have proof now, however, that it isn't.

A few days ago, at work, I had an experience that was witnessed!

You may or may not realise that my job involves making beds (exciting!). So, there I was, with a colleague, making a bed. We were chatting. Everything was going well. Then it happened.

My colleague flapped a sheet. Something hit my face, just below my right eye. I can still feel the spot. I looked down. I saw something black on the floor. It then raced behind a curtain. I then, in an almost funny (but it wasn't funny) and delayed reaction, began screaming. A real and shrill scream.

It was a cockroach.

I then spent the next 10 minutes scrubbing my face in the toilet.

As I said, this was witnessed. That is proof.

Then today we noticed my neighbour has pest control in. Of course I can only imagine what pests they have, but I am sure I have met every single one of them. This is proof too.

I am surrounded by beasties.

Anyway...

Prudence and CC are doing well with their harness training. They now barely even flinch when they are put on. They run around oblivious to them.

Please, no....not again....Not again!

So today we bought some leads. This is where I imagine the real work will begin. Won't be long, hopefully, til they are taking me for a walk.

Poor Whitney Houston.

Her "Bodyguard" album was the first I had ever bought for myself.

I loved her. I would proudly proclaim that I thought she had one of the best voices in the world, second only to Celine Dion.

I won't list Whitney's record breaking achievements, because there are simply so many. I will simply say that she is one of the most successful singer/actor's ever.

Then the the world started to hear about her troubles. About her abusive relationship with Bobby Brown. About the drugs.

Well, recently she has started touring again. She apparently had straightened herself out and was ready to return to her fans and to the world.

She is currently in Australia.

People walked out in droves due to her poor performance.

She mimed. Then when she sang live, she couldn't reach any of the notes she was so famous for.

Here is a sample of what people had paid to see.

Very sad, really.

To see someone I used to adore, be crushed over time by poor life decisions and drugs. Yes, very sad.

I hope that she will genuinely turn it around. But, practically speaking, I don't think it will be any time soon.

She is supposed to be coming to Adelaide, but I won't be paying to go see her, not any time soon.

I have had three days off. I haven't done much with them. I suppose I have just been really tired. Old before my time.

I wanted to go see Adelaide Fringe today, but I have had to wait in for a plumber. One of my shower's has a leak. A bad leak.

Typical.

And, as you would expect, the plumber hasn't even called to say what time he will be here at.

Typical.

I did watch the UK version (the original version) of Queer As Folk, series one and two.

It has cheered me up no end. A wonderful show. It explores life for a group of gay men in Manchester, England.

Yes, it is famous for being a bit close to the edge, a bit risque, but the writing is top notch. The acting is very spot on. And, although it doesn't resemble my life at all, I can relate to the characters, situations and the resulting emotions and feelings.

Empowering and freeing.

If you don't know Manchester, the gay "village", or hub of gay clubbing life, is Canal Street. Sam and I went there once, not long before we came to Australia. We had a wonderful time, seeing all the clubs and pubs. It was a great night.

Seeing QAF again, reminded of that night.

So tragic about Whitney. So much talent, such a waste!

The beasties...as long as you blog...we know they haven't consumed you yet. Are the little ones helping?...your darling cats? Mine used to eat bugs...rather repulsive, but at least they weren't crawling on me.

Whitney...flopped. And at the end of the video, it said REPLAY...egads!

Queer as Folk...charming show-like it edgey!

Hope you have a great day! Keep up the news...love to hear your stories.

Yeah Momma, the cats definately do help. When I first got Prudence, we would go round the house on patrol at least 3 times a day doing a monster (beastie) hunt.

I can trust her to do it on her own now, and she has CC to help as well, when she is in the mood.

Whitney burned her throat out on crack. She was my favorite singer for forever. I once found a Best Of Whitney Houston at a yard sale and when I played it I couldn't believe how many hits she had. Sad.

Yup. I suppose none of us have a guaranteed future. Not even those of us with a spark of something really special.

Hello David! Thank you for being my 100th follower! :o) I posted fireworks for you. :o)

This was an entertaining post and I like your writing style. Still, the comment that keeps leaping out in my mind is... you washed your face in the toilet??? Think I'd rather have the cockroach on my cheek. LOL!

...That is funny!
Yeah, I meant that I washed my face in the sink, that is located in the rest room.

Your blog is pretty cool. I hope you get a lot more followers, to appreciate your blog.
