Adelaide's Northern Lights

Tonight we went along to North Terrace in Adelaide City.

Tonight is the last night of The Northern Lights.

This celebration of light, colour and architecture is delivered by The Electric Canvas, Sydney based projection specialists, as part of The Adelaide Festival Of Arts. The festival finished two weeks ago, but due to great demand by the public, The Northern Lights was extended.

The digitally designed light show, is cast across the South Australian Museum, the State Library Of South Australia, the Art Gallery Of South Australia, Elder Hall, the Mitchell Building, Bonnython Hall and Parliament House, completely transforming North Terrace.

The show incorporates 70 digital images, changing every five minutes, over the surface of the buildings.

It is believed up to 15,000 people a night have come to watch and admire the show.

Tonight there were crowds upon crowds of people.

There were families and couples, all taking in and enjoying the light show.

Everyone had a camera in their hand, as they marvelled at how light and colour can completely morph something as permanent and unchanging as a stone building, into something else altogether.

I am so glad we got the chance to see the show, before it draws to a close for another year.

Pretty magical when you are there, looking at plain old buildings and suddenly the lights come on and it all changes.

The buildings look beautiful and different than they normally do. I admit I had difficulty recognising the old buildings in North Terrace.

Yes! The buildings are just plain brick and stone. I should have put photo's up of the buildings as they really are, for you to compare. Sorry.
