I had a day off today.
I wanted it to be a relaxing day, as I haven't felt very well, and have hurt my neck.
I will survive.
But I was a little bored. Sam is working today, so I couldn't even annoy him. So I thought I could be a little artistic.
I saw CC and Teddy playing on one of their scratching posts, and thought it looked like a good photo opportunity.
They both looked at the camera (well at me) at the same time, and I thought this was pretty excellent.
Then Iwondered how I could make this more "artistic"?
So I added an orange.
Don't ask me why. It felt like a good idea at the time.
CC and Teddy were not impressed.
And Prudence wasn't being left out, she is simply fussy about when she makes an appearance. I like to think of her as the Greta Garbo of the Cat World.
Prudence, too, likes to be left alone, at times.
Nothing wrong with that.
Then, while observing my subjects, it occurred to me how much Teddy looked like Puss, from Shrek.
Perhaps one of his relatives was the inspiration for the animated creation? Who knows?!
What do you think?
Uncanny, isn't it.
So this distraction still did not fulfil me. I watched two movies, The Craft, about young witches, and Fletch, with Chevy Chase as the newspaper reporter investigating drug crime.
Still bored.
Then I looked out my paints, as I was still feeling creative.
I produced this.
I haven't painted in sooo long, but feel I would like to get back in to it.
Of course I need practice, but for 10 minutes work I was pretty chuffed with myself.
I used acrylic paint, but applied it as water colour, using a lot of water to dilute it. Acrylic paint is very versatile.
In coming weeks I will perhaps try and spend more time and effort on painting, as it is such a good feeling to create something.
Anyway, that has been my day. Resting is such hard work.
I hope your day has been good.

Your day has been, mine is just beginning! For someone who was bored you certainly filled your day! Yes, Teddy does look like Puss in boots!!
And yes, you should get back into the art with skills like that. There's a fun blogger who does weekly art prompts you may find interesting. Some of us need prompts others of us hate them, which are you?? I vary ;)
Here's his address if you're interested:

David, I DO like your painting. Lots.
Thanks Lucy, it's Okay.
I used to produce such nice pieces when I was at school.
How was your Birthday?
Yep he looks like Puss in Boots.. minus the hat of course.. I will have to post pics of my furbabies. I have 4 cats all of them rotten to the core.
You paint beautifully. I wish I had that kind of talent..
Love the painting!
Great job on the painting! Love the cat pictures too - they are adorable!
You are an awesome painter! And your cat looks like the one from Shrek. Love it!
Kitties are cute!
Your paintings are fab. Wow, so much talent. Cats are cute, Garbo still beautiful. My day is great. Thanks for asking.

this is really a great post. i hope you get bored often. the cat similarity is a bit scary. the craft and fletch, yeah bored.
The painting is beautiful. I love it.
thank you.
I think you should paint much more. That's a lovely painting and you have a lot of talent.
And, I love your cats. I used to have one. He was 13 when he died and broke my heart. I haven't had the nerve to let another one do that to my heart. Maybe someday.
Relyn, thank you. It is great to "meet" you.
And happy spring to you too x
At least you got something accomplished with your day.
I was a useless pustule today.
But it felt good nonetheless ...
If you can say you felt you had a good day...well most people would be content with that!
And Keith - a "useless pustule"?
Colourful!
im constantly trying to get my wife to draw more. i have ZERO ability when it comes to drawing/painting and its always good to see people using such a great ability.
Hi David,
Came your way via Hmmm in Colorado, and just wanted to say 'hello'
I see you are a transplant also, albeit to Oz not the USA, sounds like you have settled in nicely down under.
Love the picture of Teddy, he does indeed look like Puss from Shrek, thos BIG eyes, and CC looks so sweet.

Hi Sammy. Thanks mate. We can ALL draw, some people just have different styles. And practice makes a huge difference too. You should have a go!
Jo, thank you! How long have you been in America?
