Easter Sunday Part 1

Waterfall Gully

Today was brilliant. We did so much this Easter Sunday, I feel I have to publish two posts.

We started our day by setting off on the wide open road and, with wonder and luck, we found Waterfall Gully.

Waterfall Gully is a suburb, not far from Adelaide, set in the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges. It is a natural beauty spot. The area takes it's name from the waterfall (also known as First Falls) that nestles into a small cliff face.

We took a lot of photographs, and some footage too, but to really see the beauty of the place, you would have to go there.

Everything seemed quite magical about the place, and I even saw what looked like a dragonfly. I had never seen one in real life before. I felt quite bewitched, watching it dart from place to place, hovering at times, and then darting off again.

Then I saw these steps, and the kid in me couldn't help but imagine that they formed the path to a special land, where mysteries, dreams and magic are real.

I also had to make sure I had some photo's of me that proved I am hot!

This is the masculine hand of a working man, of a writer, artist and poet!

And Sam isn't bad either.

Utopia

Utopia is a picturesque restaurant, built and designed in the style of a Swiss chalet, set at the bottom of First Falls.

Originally built as a tea room in 1912, Utopia has a natural air of charm and warmth.

I was disappointed, though, with our meal. I have emailed the following letter to the owner of Utopia, as I believe that constructive criticism can lead to better delivery of service and product.

And Utopia can deliver so much more!

I hope the letter is received positively.

Mr Markos,

I hope this email finds you well.

My partner and I visited Utopia today.

We were initially impressed by your restaurant, enhanced by the beautiful setting, and friendly staff.

However, I am sad to report that not only did we have to wait 30 minutes for the Big Gully Breakfasts we ordered, but that they were also cold.

We ate our order as a) we were truly hungry after our exploration of Waterfall Gully, and b) we did not wish to wait a further 30 minutes for a replacement.

I was additionally disappointed when, after informing one of your staff of our order being cold upon delivery to our table, she responded by saying she would "pass it on".

There was no apology. I find this sad. I am not looking for compensation. Nor am I looking to upset you or your staff, but we expected better than we received.

I hope you can use this constructive feedback to improve the service you provide.

Faithfully,

D Samson

We should expect, and ask for, a certain standard of quality and service.

I will let you know if I receive a reply.

Ahhh, Warterfall Gully is just sensational. Glad you enjoyed. We have never made it to Utopia....(too many small children on our part!) but I have heard similar tales......such a shame!

Oh, that is such a shame Lucy. I am glad that it wasn't just us being all parnickety.

Utopia could me marvelous, and we really did expect a lot better.

I look forward to seeing if I get a reply...

Beautiful scenery, countryside. It's nice to be enjoying your new home.
Good e mail. Properly done. They should appreciate it.

Well, I'll be darned! Waterfall Gully, eh? I mean, there are quite a few places in Australia I haven't heard of, obviously, but that's quite a scenic spot not to have heard of, you know what I mean? And a Swiss-chalet style restaurant thrown into the bargain? With bad service and cold food?

Quite intriguing, all the same...and some picturesque photographs (am I allowed to use that adjective with that verb?).

Postman, I'm sure it is acceptable to use that combination of verb and adjective ;-)

Thank you Momma!

Thank you G. I think they did.
