So, onwards we went. We drove and drove, and saw, on the side of a road, a charming little ...stall?...shop?
We keep finding gems like this, just in random places. Adelaide is wonderful.
The Olde Apple Shed sold, among other things, orchard fresh apples, rhubarb and strawberries. So, of course, we had to have some. Here are some photo's.
So, back on the road, and we came across Melba's Chocolate Factory.
How amazing is Adelaide?! You can't make this stuff up. And there would be no better a place to visit when millions of people around the globe are unwrapping chocolate eggs, celebrating Easter!
There was, essentially, a large shop, surrounded by little rooms, showing patrons snippets of how chocolate is produced. Yes, we bought
Sam loved his "Freckle" from Melba's Chocolate Factory.
Then, as if the chocolate factory was not enough, we found the township of Hahndorf.
Hahndorf is the oldest German town in Australia, first settled in 1839.
Driving through, we saw these beautiful horses. There was a lot to see, but being Easter Sunday, the town was extremely busy. There were people everywhere. I think there may have been a cat show of some sort on, and also a photographic exhibition.
There were Bistro's and various shops and venues, such as a puppet shop. There is also a nearby market, as well as a vineyard.
With it being as busy, and with all our choccies in danger of melting, we decided to head home. We will, however, return. Hahndorf is a very pretty little town, with a lot to offer.
We had an excellent day, and can't wait to see more of Adelaide and South Australia.

Oh my. If you are ever in need of "English" sweets that you can't get here, the Olde Sweete Shoppe in Hahndorf is a handy spot!
We were married in Hahndorf: it is very special spot.
Oh thank you so much for that information.
Sweets shouldn't be a problem, for a while, with all the choccies we bought today.
Hahndorf looked really pretty. A really nice place to get married. You are so lucky.
We will go back soon, I hope.
I go to that shop for the crisps. Frazzles and Wotsits. Oh God I miss English crisps..........
Absolutely grand! I love it. Thanks for sharing the magic of your day! Happy Easter! Ours is just beginning.
Oh Happy Easter Momma. Have a great one!
What a lovely day, thanks for sharing. Love the pics!! Chocolate...yum!
Sounds like a wonderful trip and such scrumptious looking things. Thanks for sharing.
You CAN'T make this stuff up! Man, Adelaide just keeps moving up the list. What a swell spot, and all those luscious comestibles to boot; been a while since I had fresh strawberries or rhubarb crumble.
A nice carriage ride down a shady street ain't bad, either. Thanks for sharing, sir.
Dezmond, I hadn't heard that. I remember at one point, ancient blue potatoes were all the rage.
Blue Mash! Can you imagine?
Those draft horses are gorgeous. They are my favorite breed. So strong and beautiful.
The chocolate factory looks amazing!
It was a fun day Mrs D.
The horses were beautiful. I have friends who own horses. Amazing animals.

Sassy Chica
So quaint! I love it! You are restoring my faith in Adelaide.
I stayed a week in Adelaide years back with an ex (his home town) but all I got to see was the local pub, & the pokies, & the footy field.
But then again, he was a total knobhead anyway, so it doesn't surprise me!!!!
Dar! You made me spit, laughing! Well, I am glad he is an ex then. But yeah, Adelaide has a lot of little treasures.
There are a lot of things near Adelaide too, that I am still to see and do. I will keep you all updated.
