Hallett Cove

Being a holiday weekend, and now having a car, today we decided to go for a drive.

We had no set plans of where we would end up, but we were fortunate to find Hallet Cove. This is a beautiful coastal suburb of South Australia. It was gorgeous, actually.

There was a lovely atmosphere of relaxation, of taking life as it comes.

We could see people in speedboats, enjoying the water.

Others had kites.

Most people were just easing back, enjoying simply being alive in the wonderful, natural beauty of South Australia.

During our visit to Hallett Cove, my mind returned a few times to memories of Angela Lansbury, as Jessica Fletcher in the show "Murder She Wrote".

Her character, a writer and all round good soul, lived in a charming place called Cabot Cove.

So, one day, I thought, I could be my own version of Jessica Fletcher, living and writing in Hallett Cove.

Such a special thought...

The houses, the beach, the whole area looked well cared for. The Sun was also shining, and overall, it was a glorious day.

We could see a platform, just off the coast. We didn't know if this was a drilling platform, or really what it's function was. We will need to ask around and find out.

Decked trails wrapped up and around "sugar loaf" mounds, and made for some interesting scenery and viewing opportunities.

When we got peckish, there was a convenient cafe with friendly staff on hand.

Wedges caught our eye, and we were given HUGE servings, with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce on the side. They were scrumptious, but there were too many and, as much as I tried, I couldn't devour them all.

We were having a great time...until we saw this sign warning us to be vigilant of snakes in the area.

Smack! Oh yeah, we are in Australia. I had let myself forget, for a moment. The sign brought me back to reality.

Still, snakes, potentially laying in wait for me, are a small price to pay for having a life in such a magical country.

Australia looks beautiful this time of year! I guess you are getting ready to head into your winter months though.

Hi Doc,

Yeah, I think in about a month or so winter will be pretty much here.

But, a winter in Oz is mild compared to a winter in Scotland.

I am looking forward to winter, actually. Less beasties and mosquito's etc.

And in winter, Oz can be even more beautiful, with everything becoming really green. During the summer months a lot of plant life turns brown, with the heat and lack of water.

Wow! Very pretty! Great place. And for those snakes...I bet they are gigantus in Australia. Run for your life! We don't even post signs out here for rattlesnakes...YIKES

There are all sorts of signs here for everything.

The thing is, here, in Oz, everything can kill you. It's a mighty dangerous place to live.

More fun that way.
