I have a feeling I haven't mentioned how amazing Adelaide is for a while.
Adelaide is amazing.
Over the last couple of weeks, for example, Adelaide has been witness to many explosions of colour, right across the whole city.
Summer has it's own special kind of magic in South Australia.
Adelaide is always green, to a greater or lesser extent, but currently there is a carpet of purple petals on many streets, on pavements, on driveways, in most suburbs of this wonderful city, with trees bursting with purple blossoms towering overhead.
On Sunday, Sam and I drove to a popular look-out spot, at Windy
Point, which is also the name of a restaurant located at this site. A friend had suggested we visit as the meals and service are superb. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed. However, from this point, you can look out and see the whole of Adelaide. A spectacular view!
What was more amazing was the fact that we could see whole blocks of the city dappled in
I took some pictures with my iPhone, but they don't do the scenic view any justice.
I also took a short video of one of the streets, lined by trees humming with purple brilliance. However, a car almost pulled out in front of us and Sam said many things not suitable for publishing on my blog.
Such a potty mouth! Ha!
I'm surprised I haven't heard any Aussies mention the glorious Party of Purple around us, but then they probably take such marvels for granted. I suppose we all take things for granted when we are desensitised to them.
We also went for a short walk along the river yesterday, and I saw what I thought was a swan. Then Sam looked and told me that no, it wasn't a swan. It was a pelican! It was a reality check for me that I was in Australia!
Every so often I forget I am here, that I made the move, and then something happens that brings it all back to me.
Amazing Adelaide!
