Less than 3 weeks before we move house, I am dizzy with all the things we need to do.
We need to inform all the important people, like those who send us bills for electricity, gas, telephone line, internet provision, health insurance etc etc. Then there are all those other important people, like the one who gave me my driving licence, or the one who employs me.
Of course, I can't forget my friends and family. Especially important for an international person like me.
There is the packing, the cleaning, the organising and sticking to of a timeline, in order to structure and facilitate the smooth transition from this home to the next.
Oh, and the weeding. Let's not forget the garden. It offers me so much in the way of pain. I am in no way green-fingered, and anything beyond mowing is torture.

There are boxes everywhere! |
In recent days we have thrown out so much. I know everyone collects and hoards, to an extent, but looking at our short time in Oz, we have done more than our fair share.
We have turned this around a little, and have given enough odds and ends to the local charity shop to keep them well stocked for months to come. Clothes, crockery, pots and pans, furniture...you name it and we have given it away.
We have also been selling some items, but it hasn't been easy. We have had potential buyers register interest, and even make promises to purchase, only to be disappointed when they don't turn up to pay and collect their item.

20% of clothes we have given away |
Some have had no further contact with us, even when we have messaged them to ask why they hadn't turned up at the arranged time. Some have replied with excuses so trivial I have to wonder why they even bothered to contact me in the first place.
A waste of time, theirs and mine!
A Sunny Day, Cares Drifting Away
Today we have gone through most of our clothes and tried to be as brutal as possible, keeping only what we really need and use.
But to recharge our batteries we went off to a local park just to lie in the sun. It is such a gorgeous day today. Families wandered by as we soaked up the rays, laughing and chatting. We shared our thoughts and whispered our dreams about our new house and our future. Beautiful.

A butterfly danced from one bush to the next, seemingly never quite satisfied with what it found each time it stopped to investigate. I couldn't help but wonder if that was how we seemed to others.
We had moved house several times back home, eventually emigrated to Australia, and now we are moving again.
This should be the last move for a few years, I hope.
