How To Deal With Evil

How do you deal with evil?

Have you ever even been in the presence of evil?

I don't mean Hitler evil, or serial killer, knife wielding, fire throwing, out and out overt evil. I mean run of the mill, everyday, sociopath type evil.

And don't dismiss this type of evil, because it can be worse than the other kinds. Okay, perhaps millions of people won't face death in massive purpose built ovens, but these sociopaths are evil. There is no doubt in my mind. And they can get close to you, going unseen for what they really are.

I find myself regularly in the presence of this evil. Not through my choice, believe me.

So how would you deal with a sociopath? Well, you might not know what a sociopath is. What I am describing is a person who is emotionally shallow, who manipulates people like a magician, who can charm the birds from the trees when it suits them, who demonstrates an overwhelming sense of entitlement. They do what they want, how they want, when they want. And can make it seem like your fault, when it all goes wrong. They don't feel guilty. They can pretend to have empathy for another, but in truth are incapable of this. Do you know someone like this? It could be your spouse, colleague, child...anyone.

And that's part of what makes a sociopath so dangerous - they can be anywhere and anyone.

The sociopath I'm discussing here knows they are evil, how could they not...!? Officially they can be seen as mentally ill, or having an anti-social personality disorder. But demon possession makes just as much sense to me.

I have meditated on this. I have sent love, light and prayers. I have tried avoidance behaviour. No-one else seems to be conscious of the horrific, cruelly twisted "human" that appears to be so intimately integrated into the lives of the oblivious and of the innocent.

I didn't sleep well last night. I called several local hotels, asking if they kept bibles in their rooms. Staying true to the cliche that Scots are "tight", I don't want to buy one. Hotels seem, these days, to not keep bibles on their night stands. And those I spoke to seemed to think I was somehow odd, to be asking. So my plan to get a free hotel bible has failed.

Why a bible? Well, I want to exorcise this person, in the hope they are in actual fact possessed by a demon. I'm sure I can get some Holy water...

Of course, if they are simply evil, I will need to reflect, and modify my approach.

Perhaps my local Bunnings carries a range of wooden stakes...

How would you deal with evil?
