Are people selfish if they want more than 2 children?
The Optimum Population Trust have advised people consider limiting their numbers of offspring. More people, they say, create more of a burden on earth's resources, reporting a carbon footprint costing for each additional person.
China has policies in place limiting their production of children. Should the "West" do the same?
The timing of this advisement is interesting as recently octo-mum Lieberman, famously had eight children in one birth. She now has a total of 14 children. She apparently cannot afford arrears owed on her mortgage payments. It has been reported recently, however, that she is now considering the purchase of a $1.2 million house. No doubt this would be paid for by the general public's generosity.
I would assume people would be better to really think about if they want children at all, before the decide on numbers. Octo-mum, apparently, has been referred to the relevant authorities as she appears non empathetic and quite disinterested in her children, the sperm donor (they were conceived by IVF, even though she already had 6 kids) and her own mother.
Also, the recent Baby-faced dad Alfie and his baby's mother, throw up many questions. The least of which is "How many should they have?" What about, "Should we have sex?", "Do you have a condom?", "Are you on the pill?" or "Why are you attracted to a boy who looks eight years old?".
Should the mother have been 12, and the father 15, I am quite sure we would have heard cries of "statutory rape". Perhaps it is not entirely appropriate to take action, but the issue should be addressed. Why have a law against underage sex, and then have officials turn a blind eye?
