In 2003 NASA posted a composite picture from images obtained via the Hubble telescope and at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona , of the Helix Nebula, describe by some as a "trillion-mile-long tunnel of glowing gases". The Helix Nebula is found in the constellation of Aquarius, 700 light years away from earth.

At it's centre is a dying star. Recently there has been quite a stir about it, but that image was revealed 6 years ago. We are so slow sometimes. However, we seem to have a bit of warning about our own star. The Sun may look similar in 5 billion years, when it too dies. Scary.
The excitement is because the picture looks like a massive eye, or as dubbed by some, "The eye of God". It is very beautiful, and there is something appealing about God visibly watching us. Perhaps this, and all the recent attention received by those investigating life "out there", will inspire the human race. Inspire us to want to be more.
