We (at work) were randomly talking about our traits and characteristics, and what animals we might be similar to because of them.
If I were an animal, my colleagues thought I would be an otter, due to my playful nature, or a koala, because I am affectionate. Lovely comparisons, with which I was quite pleased.
One of my colleagues then spoke of the Chinese horoscope and how her year and hour animal were the same. I didn't know people could be born in the HOUR of an animal.
I knew I was born in the year of the Monkey -
"Monkeys are intelligent, witty and possess an overall magnetic personality. They are sociable and easy to communicate with.
Monkeys love to talk. Fast learners and quick on the draw, they can be crafty opportunists, and can adapt to many situations. Some people love the eccentricity of the Monkey personality; others mistrust their restless, sly, inquisitive behaviour. Monkeys indulge in deceit just for the stir it causes and shrug it off as a joke. Despite an exceptional brightness, they cannot imagine themselves in other people's shoes, rendering them unsympathetic and unintuitive. Possessing a wide range of interests, Monkeys can perform well in many jobs, but are to restless to work from 9 - 5. A bit of a tease, Monkeys need partners that can keep them stimulated.
The following occupations best suit the Monkey personality -
SCIENTIST ¤ JOURNALIST ¤ EDITOR ¤ FILM DIRECTOR ¤ JEWELLER ¤ ACTOR ¤ WRITER ¤ AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER ¤ ENGINEER ¤ MARKET TRADER
Some notable Monkeys in these fields include James Stewart, Joan Crawford, Bob Marley, Leonardo Da Vinci, Julius Caesar and Elizabeth Taylor"
I feel this is more or less accurate. But then I discovered I was born in the hour of the Dragon. Such a powerful being. Apparently this means -
"The Dragon adds a bit of spice to the character of those born during his hour, adding a little more colour and conviction in how he lives his life. Self-confidence, independence and energy will shine, and the drive of ambition becomes more prominent."
Again I would say this was pretty accurate. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that I was born under the signs of two such powerful beings.
I got the above information from these sites, if you wanted to know your own signs -

The Chinese zodiac is very interesting. Legend says it came about through Lord Buddha naming each year after animals who came to say goodbye, before he left our earthly plane. Apparently the Chinese lunar calender started in 2637 B.C. It is the longest chronological record known.
I think some further study is in order.
