Why People Blog

I recently was sharing my blogs with people at work (showing them the pics I had posted of my recent crash). I am still relatively new to blogging and feel proud at what I have achieved so far.

I was asked "Why do you blog?"

All I could think was "Why wouldn't you?"

So it got me thinking why I do blog. Why do people blog?

I would like to be a writer, a professional writer. I have a lot of ideas for short stories and full length novels. I had thought, and still do, that blogging would help me develop discipline, with regards to my writing. It would get me into the habit of sitting regularly at my lap top, typing away, finding new ways to express my ideas and feelings.

Other people blog for different reasons. Essentially I believe bloggers feel they have something to say, to share. Some people have political motives. Others want to produce a record, of an event, or of their life. A blog can influence and teach people. Often bloggers will learn from their own blogging. Others choose to blog to make money, as there are numerous ways to do so with a blog.

Blogging also allows people to connect with others through a creative outlet, to build a community of thinkers and readers. It encourages literacy and independent thought.

Ideas are only worthwhile if they can be shared. Ideas do change the world.

Blogging can change the world.

Why do you blog?
