We have planned to see the zoo many times, and each time something happens, leading us to not go. But, today, we managed to see it, and the bonus of great weather was a real gift.
I give Adelaide Zoo a big "thumbs up".
It is not a huge zoo. It appears well planned, making maximum use of the space available. The second oldest zoo in Oz, it is home to almost 2000 animals - reptiles, mammals, birds and fish. There are also many examples of varied plant life to see, as well as a special garden area designed to attract and accommodate butterflies.
Owned by the Royal Zoological Society of South Australia, the zoo has been open to the public since 1883.
Among the animals we saw, were the Kangaroo, Emu, Tasmanian Devil, Lion, American Alligator, Crocodile, Python, Gibbon, Flamingo, Tortoise and my favourite - the Giraffe. I had no idea how wonderful these creatures were in real life. So majestic, so graceful...amazing!
Here are some pics and a video. Please enjoy.
Look at this! Using people's photographs, the face of this beautiful primate has been engineered. Gorgeous!
