Stephen Gately

Stephen Gately, only 33 years old, passed away on Oct 10th, while on holiday with his partner Andy Cowles, in Spain.

This, of course, is terribly sad. However, what has caught my attention, is the story that Jan Moir, who writes for The Daily Mail in the UK, has expressed her tainted opinions using this rag as the forum.

“Another real sadness about Gately’s death is that it strikes another blow to the happy-ever-after myth of civil partnerships,” she says.

What? Sorry? No, I don't get it. In what way does a man dying of pulmonary oedema, impact on the way a civil partnership should be viewed. If a married lady is run over by a bus tomorrow, does that mean marriage is a sham? A con? A defunct and delusional practice? No!

"Healthy and fit 33-year-old men do not just climb into their pyjamas and go to sleep on the sofa never to wake up again", she proclaims.

What is she implying? The coroner has examined the body and found the cause of death to be natural. Stephen's family is reported to have a history of heart defects as well. And yet, Jan Moir, in her finite wisdom, expresses that Stephen's death was somehow "sleazy".

How unkind. How cruel. How dare she!

Shame on you, Jan Moir! And shame on The Daily Mail for providing you the platform for delivering your venemous bile.

Her article will be under more scrutiny, following complaints about it's content, by over 20,000 individuals to the Press Complaints Commission (PCC).
