The Black Stain, or La Mancha Negra, in Venezuela, is a mystery indeed.
No person, "expert" or scientist, appears to be able to explain it.
An eight mile stretch of road outside Caracas is affected by a black "goo". It is growing, and is responsible for many road accidents and deaths. 1800 people are said to have died, directly and indirectly, in just five years.
It was first observed over 30 years ago, and since has grown to over 100 times it's original size. Attempts to remove the "goo" have repeatedly failed. It appears to not want to be washed away and forgotten.
The theorists have suggested what it may be, but no-one knows. Is it an alien blob? Or a poorly built road in an impoverished country? Or maybe it is the result of ineffective dumping of chemical waste?
It would be interesting to see what happens next with the "goo".
