Progress Update On Cat Harness Training / Dance Of Fear

Here are some pictures of Prudence and CC.

The harness training is going well, overall. I am very slowly introducing the concept of harnesses to them, and allowing them ample time to process this next stage of their life.

CC is accepting the harness much much quicker than Prudence. Pru has more "fight" in her- a bit of a wild spirit. CC is more laid back, and really couldn't care about very much as long as she has her ears scratched regularly.

Pru, initially, refused to even walk around with her harness on. But after a short time of adjustment realised it wasn't such a burden, and appeared to forget she had it on. She was playing with CC, and seemed to have no "problems". When I took off the harness, though, there was a definite air of relief. Still early days.

Today we went into town, to have a nice meal at a "Scottish" restaurant and then...SPIDER!

We saw it on the inner aspect of the frontage of a building.

It looks like a "Huntsman" spider, which is generally harmless. That is, until someone called Sam, waits til you get real close to the spider in order to get a good, clear photograph, and then blows on the spider, causing it to jump, run and flail it's legs about.
I seemed to react automatically by also flailing my arms and legs about, screaming and generally being a big wimp.

Once I felt my pulse and breathing return to normal, and Sam had somehow managed to stifle his guffaws of laughter, another layer was added to my embarassment. We walked by the same spot on the way back, after the meal, only to realise, from this angle, there were tall windows lining the building, inside which were people sitting around a table in what looked like a meeting. They must have saw me playing the tourist, taking a photo of a spider and then dancing in fear...I am a nervous wreck!

Sam will get what's coming to him...

What a fun story! If it makes you feel any better, I would've DEFINITELY danced and screamed right along with you if I found that enormous thing anywhere NEAR me! Yikes!!

I would have screamed like a big sissy. Spiders are HUGER than they appear and I am sure the one in your pic is about 3 feet by 4 feet. YIKES!

I didn't know there were any Scottish restaurants in Adelaide. Are you sure it wasn't McDonalds?!

LMAO Kelly.

It was Rob Roy. Just off Pultney Street, 10 mins walk from Rundle Mall. It is also a "Fringe Venue 2010". Most of the dishes are Scottish themed and there are references to Kilts etc.

Momma, you are right, it was about 4 feet by 3 feet, and that was with it's heels off!

I would dance with you anytime Anything FANM ;-)
