They Come In Threes

I am still trying to acclimatise myself to using this blog in the same way I used my original one, in talking about my life, my observations etc.

I didn’t realise that using a different platform to blog on, wordpress as opposed to blogger, would take quite so much “getting used to”.

In saying that, though, I think I am falling more in love with wordpress with each post I write, each new element of code I employ, each widget I trial. It really is wonderful software.

But there are so many articles and tutorials written about wordpress, I won’t bore you with it any more, at this point.

So, back to me.

If you have read my other blog, you may know I am moving house soon. In two days!

Well, on the run up to this moment I have had a few…let us call them challenges. Nothing too complicated, but nothing that a touch of “Sam” hasn’t helped. Sam, my other half, has been tremendous, as always. He has organised everything, from form filling, to arranging appointments and so on and so on. I really do appreciate all he does. He doesn’t even read an of my blogs, so he won’t even see this. But it is all true nonetheless.

Among these challenges has been my health.

Last week, for a few days, by back had been sore. A niggle here. A twinge there. Then, when helping Sam dismantle a bed, in preparation for the house move, my back just went. Typical.

I was only off work for a day, but it wasn’t fun.

Then I started to get a sore throat. Now, if you know any nurses, a sore back can be a portent of ill-health. I almost lost my voice a couple of times. If you have ever had tonsillitis, you will have some idea of how my throat felt, and how it tasted! Except, I had my tonsils removed when I was 16. In this case they refer to it as a “throat infection”.

But tonsillitis has a better ring to it.

Anyway, I went to the doctor yesterday and was swiftly diagnosed with laryngitis. The doctor referred to me being like “Wallace”, after the famous Scot William Wallace, because I was so tough and so brave.

Made me feel good!

And while I am having a moan, I can’t believe how expensive things are these days…In my day…! Ha!

I got a taxi from work (no, I haven’t taken any more time off) which cost me $10. The fee to see a doctor was $30. My anti-biotics and some anti-histamines were $22. It all adds up.

Then, last night, I got into bed and my right knee subluxated, which is where a joint only partially dislocates. Both my knees used to do this a lot. But not for years. And, silly me, I had only been talking about how this had not happened for a long time, a few days ago. I jinxed myself. I haven’t won any money on the lotto for a while either…Fingers crossed.

So this morning I am hobbling about with an unstable knee joint. I am still going to work. I hope it will ease up as the day goes on.

I have to believe that “they do come in threes”, as they saying goes for examples of bad luck, and that now I have a clear run of good, or even semi-decent, luck. Between my back, laryngitis and knee, I have had my share!

I will update you a about the house move. I know it will go well!!
