A Lion Cub In The Adelaide Hills

Dream Diary

17/02/12

Last night I slept for approximately 13 hours. And it really could have been much longer, had it not been for my weak nurse's bladder.

It has been a long week in many respects, leading to the long and well deserved slumber, during which I had many dreams.

Only one has stayed with me. The others, as dreams are apt to do, have evaporated from my memory and can't be tempted to return, no matter how hard I try.

I dreamt I was walking in the Adelaide Hills, somewhere fairly generic. I was walking along a tarmac road, lined with trees. It was dark and I sensed sunset had been relatively recent.

I came to a point where the road turned to the left and dipped down. It appeared to be a cul-de-sac type area, with some houses on the left side, but only trees on the right.

As I stood, I saw the sky light up with a fork of lightning. It was then I realised I could see Adelaide City laid out before me. Very beautiful!

I continued down the small slope a short distance, but the tree line began to obscure my view of the city.

I walked deeper into the dense trees, along a dirt track, and became aware of movement ahead of me. A small lion cub came towards me. It was the same height as a medium sized dog. It also had a full mane.

I was a bit scared and began to return the way I had come, but it followed me. I tried to discourage it by swinging a bag, or possibly a pillow, at it. However, it continued to follow me. I walked along a metal fence, and through a gate, which I tried to close behind me.

The lion cub wasn't attacking me, and if anything I felt it was like a stray who just wanted to come home with me, for love and companionship, but I was scared nonetheless.

Your dream interpretations are invited. What do you think it means?
