OK, wait a second, I'm not sure I want to know. But I DO want to tell you what I was doing, because this is my blog and it's all about me!
Tim Minchin! I went to see him at The Entertainment Centre, as he was kind enough to bless Adelaide with his presence. And what a presence!
Are you aware of who Mr. Minchin is? You should, but if not visit his website here.
Basically he is a funny man, who can play musical instruments, sing songs and crack jokes, all at once, usually.
On the big night the audience gathered slowly, and annoyingly (people just annoy me when en masse, group think has a lot to answer for), until a hush eventually, thankfully, came over the crowd.
Beginning with a solo violinist, playing in front of a wind machine, the show was very enjoyable. How could it not be, after that dramatic start?! Indeed, the musicians were members of the exquisite Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. And they were sublime!
Tim wasn't shabby either. I was truly impressed that not only could he sing live, but how well he did actually sing. I have to say, I thought he was more comedian than singer, but now I am left wondering. He is a true musician, and I have some serious respect for him. From rocking out in a cage, to jazzing it up with the orchestra, I was left thinking this man is a phenomena.
He did not sing my favourite "Tim song", "White Wine In The Sun", but it isn't Christmas and would therefore be difficult to make an argument for him including it in his show.
I had many favourite moments, which I won't share with you, because you should pay for a ticket, like I did, and enjoy the experience, in context and in full.
Anything else would be a sin...
