Suicide

Death is a sensitive subject for many, but suicide is much more taboo.

Suicide, taking one's own life, is hard for many of us to comprehend, talk about or even think about.

Even writing this, I am not entirely confident how to articulate my views and experiences, because I do not want to upset anyone, or myself. But I do think it is important to talk about it, to discuss it, and to keep that discussion in the open. If for no other reason, I hope we can help someone, anyone, who either is considering suicide, or who has known someone who made this choice.

One thing I think is important to say, is that I absolutely and utterly disagree with the notion that cowards commit suicide. Making such a huge and final decision, and seeing it through, is anything but cowardly.

That said, I also need to make the point that people have other options, but they might not see them or be aware of them.

So why do people kill themselves? Depression and anger seem to be the two most common elements.
